Your Piece of God's Heart

Did you know that buried deep within you is a piece of God's Heart that nobody else has? Permanently engraved into your soul is a unique part of God's character; an instinctual desire and individually given function, given to you alone by God, waiting to be discovered and embraced. Some people call it a "calling." Others call it a "niche." Still others call it your "creative expression." I'm calling it "Your Piece of God's Heart."

What exactly is "Your Piece of God's Heart?" It is the something that you yearn to do more than anyone else. It's the force that, when you operate in it, smashes your soul straight out of your chest and onto everybody in the room, filling them with hope and awe. You see, God's Heart is really one big puzzle, composed of seven-billion pieces. A very specific piece has been embedded in you, and each individual on the planet. You, and every other being in the world, have a part of God that you portray better than anyone else, and, as people see the specific part of God's Heart that you embody, they will come to know that part of God better than ever before.

That's the beauty and flawless ingenuity of God's design. Simply by functioning in the passions God has given us, we are personifying a uniquely given piece of God's character to those around us, who may or may not have ever seen that part of God before. Have you ever met somebody and witnessed them functioning in their Piece of God's Heart? It will absolutely blow you away with amazement. The reason that it's so breath-taking to watch someone function in their Piece of God's Heart, is that you aren't acutely aware of every aspect of God's character, so when another person displays their individual perspective of God for you, you have the joy of beholding a part of God you didn't know existed. And through that experience, you gain a greater understanding of and intimacy with God.

Finding Your Piece of God's Heart:

"This sounds perfect Seth, but how do you find your Piece of God's Heart? How do you know what it is?" Excellent question. It's really not as hard as it sounds. The only reason it may seem daunting or discouraging to find your Piece of God's Heart is that you think your passion has to meet qualifications in order to be a genuine "Piece of God's Heart." I've got some good news for you. There are no pre-requisites or criteria for your Piece of God's Heart. A lot of people think that the only valuable giftings involve grand-scale theatrics, high-end performances, and rigorous training, but that's simply not the case. your Piece of God's Heart can be something as simple as becoming a spiritual mentor to people in need of guidance or donating your time and money into a soup kitchen. your Piece of God's Heart can be anything. Not just lime-lit demonstrations of grandeur. your Piece of God's Heart can also be multidimensional and contain multiple facets. For example, my Piece of God's Heart is moving the emotions of those close to me through writing, music, thoughtful actions, and intentionality, while debunking superficiality and shallow connection through the deliberate growth of close relationship and intimacy. On top of that complex mouthful, I also reveal the goodness of God, reveal harmful traditions that have crept into society, and seek to please people and win their hearts with everything in me. In other words, I'm an interpersonal, relationship-oriented, people-pleaser who yearns to change hearts and minds. All of that put together is the Piece of God's Personality that I reveal to others. Your Piece can be just as intricate and specifically specialized. While there is a small process to discovering your Piece of God's Heart, the main issue people face in finding their Piece is attempting to conform it to some kind of external standard. Don't do that to yourself. Search for the Piece of God's Heart within you and accept it no matter how complex or bizarre it seems. The unique Piece of God you have will move those around you in a beautiful way.

Embodiments of Something Greater:

In closing, you have been given a Piece of God's Heart that nobody else has. You are a breathing embodiment of something beautiful; a fragment of God's personality unlike anyone else, designed to fit together with those around you in order to portray the image of Jesus. You are capable of portraying your Piece of God more than anyone else in the world. I encourage you to discover your Piece of God's Heart and let it gush forth. It will change you and those around you in a wonderful way.
